Manasquan Savings Bank Family Wishes Mary Cato the Best in Retirement

November 14, 2014

WALL, NJ (November 6, 2014) – As Spring Lake Heights branch veteran Mary Cato prepares for retirement, the entire bank family pauses to thank her for her service and offer their wishes for much deserved happiness. Mrs. Cato, age 89 is beloved by many employees and customers, is the kind of person that people remember for her kindness and service excellence.

When Mary Cato joined Manasquan Savings Bank at its Spring Lake Heights branch, the former Branch Manager of Central Jersey Bank and Trust Company had already retired once. Central Jersey Bank had moved from its Spring Lake Heights location, and a successful 30-year first chapter in Mrs. Cato’s career came to a close. When Manasquan Savings Bank moved into the space, however, then President Tom Blake personally asked her to return. Thus began a successful ten-year career with the organization.

“Mr. Blake saw something special in Mary that we have all since witnessed,” said James S. Vaccaro, President and CEO. “Her skill as a banker, commitment to service, and kindness have been an asset to our organization, and we wish her the very best in retirement.”

Throughout her 40 years spent working in the same physical location, Ms. Cato enjoyed many accomplishments. While employed by Central Jersey Bank, she rose from her beginnings as a Teller to Branch Manager. When she returned from her first retirement to join Manasquan Savings Bank, she was entrusted with management of safe deposits, setting up and maintaining accounts.

A Newark native and graduate of East Side High School, Mary lived with her husband in Plainfield, NJ during the early years of her marriage. When his company was relocated to Monmouth County, they settled here in Brielle, where they had one daughter and have remained ever since. When asked about her plans for the future, Mary, proud grandparent of three and great-grandparent of four, says that she plans to join friends in Brielle for regular exercise, sharpen her bingo skills, and enjoy some great books.

Numerous well-wishers descended upon the bank during the week of October 27th to wish Mary well on her retirement. She was a valued member of the Manasquan Savings bank team, and will be missed. The team looks forward to seeing her out and about within the community enjoying this well earned second go at retirement.
