Manasquan Bank, a community bank headquartered in Wall Township, N.J., visited Academy Charter High School in Lake Como, N.J. June 14 to celebrate 11 students’ completion of the EverFi™ – Financial Literacy program.
Kathie Adams, Vice President of Business Development, and Luanne Siverio, Vice President Compliance Officer, represented Manasquan Bank, presenting the students with their EverFi certificates and leading a game of Financial Jeopardy incorporating concepts from the EverFi curriculum. Groups of four students and one adult engaged in a Q&A session on banking, financial aid, charge cards, savings accounts, student loans, and other important personal finance topics. Classic New Jersey pork roll, egg and cheese sandwiches were provided by the bank.
“EverFi is a wonderful program that we are proud to bring to our local schools,” Adams said. “We are also proud of these students’ accomplishments, and hope they will apply their personal finance knowledge gained from the program to their everyday lives as they become young adults.”
EverFi™ – Financial Literacy is an online resource that uses video, animations and interactive activities to teach basic personal financial concepts. EverFi tracks individual student progress through nine modules covering: Savings, Banking, Credit Cards & Interest Rates, Credit Scores, Financing Higher Education, Renting vs. Owning, Taxes & Insurance, Consumer Protection and Investing.
The Academy Charter High School students showed an extremely positive response not only in completing the program, but also enjoying and valuing the education.
With the success of the first cohort at Academy Charter High School, Manasquan Bank plans to expand its EverFi reach in the 2016-2017 school year.
