Manasquan Bank Charitable Foundation Hosts Ceremony to Raise Flag for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ (September 4, 2019) – In recognition of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Month, the Manasquan Bank Charitable Foundation invited grant recipient and DMD fighter, Luke Greco, of Luke’s Helping Hand to their Corporate Headquarters for the inaugural flag raising ceremony. The flag, designed by Luke, was presented to James S. Vaccaro, Manasquan Bank Charitable Foundation, Board Member and Manasquan Bank, President and CEO, as a gift for the support Luke has received throughout the years.

Luke’s Helping Hand created by Luke’s family is a non-profit organization designed to raise awareness and funds to encourage research towards the disease. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research and treatment is very expensive and limited. Currently, there are no FDA approved treatments; however, there is hope – perhaps more now than ever before.

“Luke’s Helping Hand began as our mission to spread awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and provide the means to do everything we can to help Luke with his disease. What started out as Luke painting a picture of ‘thanks’ to the Mansaquan Bank Charitable Foundation, has now become a momentum experience in our lives.” said Kristen Greco, Luke’s mother. “It really makes you remember that we are not alone in this journey and its incredible humbling.”

During the month of September, all Manasquan Bank branches will have Luke’s flags raised. In addition, Manasquan Bank employees are joining the movement by participating in a ‘Jeans Day Friday’; all funds raised will be donated to Luke’s Helping Hand.
